Yesterday, I came home to a mysterious package. Funny, how excited a grown woman can get over a box with her name on it. Weird, even. Anyway, my pictures are kind of sucky, but I think I have the most considerate and thoughtful Secret Pal evah!
She obviously read my blog and picked a box of goodies that is absolutely perfect for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for realizing how badly I want to be a sock knitter and how much my one little sock knitting issue (knitting inside out) is keeping me from that goal. Not only did she include an amazing soft skein of Lana Grossa sock yarn, delicious chocolates (that I've had to hide from my husband and children...the little piggies), some printed instructions for using 2 circulars to prevent knitting inside out, 2 adorable little zippered bags (so, so cute), a bonus Debbie Macomber book, but she also sent me Ann Budd's new Getting Started Knitting Socks. Score!
Really, thanks again. So much. You are awesome.
Woo hoo! I am so excited. This weekend my little froo froo LYS is having a drop spindle class and I'm going! Kids are staying with my mom and I'm going to finally learn how to spin yarn. OMG.
Okay. Yes, it's been forever and a day since I've posted, but I've been extremely busy, I hate when bloggers and podcasters make excuses about their absences, but here I am doing the that very thing. So let's skip the blah, blah, blah and get right to the craftiness, shall we? I've been a busy little bee.
I recently found out that both my best friend and my cousin's wife are pregnant with their number two sweetpeas. Both have little boys (ages 5 and 2) and are due at the end of the year or beginning of the next. So, for once in my life as the Queen of Procrastination, I have started planning my shower gifts ahead of time. Not only have I started planning, but I've started making. That's right, I'm already on my third (THIRD!) darling little cotton bib (courtesy of Mason-Dixon Knitting). I'm not finishing any of them yet, because I think I'm going to embroider some cutesy little bugs, bees, and the like on them, finished off with an adorable vintage button/fastener from the collection I've been hoarding. If I get really ambitious, I might even attempt some darling little chevron blankies....maybe I shouldn't get too carried away.
As far as my jewelry making goes, I have one word: PMC. Precious Metal Clay. I've finally jumped into the glorious world of fine silver and made my first attempt at a PMC charm. My first attempt sucked and I didn't even fire it, but I did learn a lot about how it handles and to work with it. I'm going to actually fire something this weekend. I'll post pics when I have them.
I've also been sewing up these cute little bags to package my jewelry in. The bags are based on Amy Butler's recipe bag from her book and sewn up with her fabrics, as well as some vintage and funky textiles. The bags are turning out quite cute, in spite of my lack of sewing skills.
That's my little update. I'll try to get some pix up this week.
