Whelp, I don't have any pictures (craft-related, anyway), but I did get quite a bit done on the wide curvy scarf/shawl I'm making for my mom in Noro's Kureyon. Little was done on actually making any jewelry...lots of designs sketched and plans made. Spent most of the weekend in motion doing mom things and the like.
So, the truth about me and my craftiness is this: I'm a wannabe. Sadly, that's me in a nutshell. I've always been a maker of some sort, but I've only recently taken the time and energy to really explore what I want to make and then actually learn how to do that. More than anything I wanted to knit. So I learned. And it's changed my life and started me on this path exploring creativity. Unfortunately, that path took a little detour into rampant consumerism and stash building, but I seem to have made my way back to the bright and colorful side. And, the good news is that I have lots of supplies and books for inspiration.
Anyway, I spent this weekend (around my busy schedule of sickly children) going through some of my books and stash and trying to figure out what WIPs need to be completed and what projects I want to work on next. It would be really cool if I could actually finish one frickin' project instead of having 50 bazillion unfinished monsters calling my name and ridiculing me. Sooooo, I thought I'd get to work on my first sock. I've actually started my first sock about 50 times, but every damn time it comes out inverted....my stockinette or ribbing is on the inside of the tube. I've read every book about sock knitting and using DPNs, but still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Arggghhh.
Moving on. I really want to learn how to spin using my drop spindle so I read Spin It! (again) and guess what. I still suck. Go figure.
Now, I'm debating between one of the simple sewing projects from The Crafter's Companion or a felting project from Simply Felt. I need some instant gratification before I can muster up the courage to face my knitting UFOs.
I guess I should be thankful that the one hobby/craft/compulsion that I have I don't have any confusion about is jewelry making. There's no lag there...just full speed ahead. Now, if I could get that damn camera to work, I just be able to share some of my new creations.
